Hi Christine,
It's me, Kathy from January. I'm sorry I'm taking so long to do everything you said but I am accomplishing things slowly but surely! ;) I have driveway and landscaping scheduled and I did window treatments in the 2nd floor bedrooms.
I ordered a sample of the gramercy braided rug you recommended and I love it!! Now I just want to be sure to get exactly the right size. The room from sliders to the front of the bar cabinets measures 19' 3". From the tv wall to the edge of kitchen peninsula is 20' 5". The sectional is 8' on each side. If I measure straight across the face of the FP and hit the walls, it's 9', and the hearth sticks out 28.5".
I attached the floor plan. I tried but could not figure out how to convert it to a jpeg.
Thought I would get the carpet first before doing the curtain panels.
I'm looking for the perfect tv console still. I love the one you said to get but it's $6000 and I would like to stay closer to like 1/3 of that, but I'll keep looking for something similar.
Last question, would you do a narrow sofa table on the back side of the sectional that faces the tv?? Maybe lamps on it and a plant, etc would cozy up the room more??
Thanks so much!!!!!
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
I wanted to thank you again for the wonderful thank you gift you sent me. I really have loved it! (she sent me some cute workout clothes from her sporting goods store.) Unnecessary- but totally appreciated. I would get a rug that is about 16-18 inches longer and wider than your current one. You have the space to have your furniture entirely on the rug- so why not maximize the softness and style it will add to the room? Put some painter's tape on your floor to make sure the added size does not get in your traffic path. You don't want to to be stepping on it with one foot- and not the other. The way you have the corner of the rug right next to the fireplace- laying the rug square with the sectional is the correct way to do it. Your added rug will extend further from the back sides of the sectional. If you have room for a sofa table- I say do it. I think it would look very nice.
I got an e-mail from Robert Allen the other day and thought of your window treatments. They were introducing the new
Destinations Rustic Chic collection. Check it out
here. I especially liked
this one.
So- the sideboard I suggested was a little expensive... ;) I have that tendency. Just ask my husband. So I found a couple more choices for you- both from Four Hands. They are also both right around $2000. (If your local sources don't sell it so low- I could order it for you.)
This apothecary sideboard is 105 x 19 x 37. Plenty of room for DVD's ;).

From reclaimed exotic woods- check out this piece- it is 91 inches in length. It is quite a bit lower than the piece above- 91 x 16 x 16. It is made specifically as an entertainment center- and keeps the TV at a nice low height. I like the lack of symmetry to the design. It is more unexpected- and the rough feel to it blends in with your beautiful view.

Personally- I don't think 37 inches is too high for an entertainment center- it is a personal preference.
Hey readers- have a favorite for Kathy- should she go with the apothecary or the reclaimed?
I would consider that the apothecary table would be more difficult to coordinate shelves with- as suggested in the first post... But more difficult doesn't mean it can't be done.
