What started out as an interest, for me, has turned into a passion.  It is a part of me.

Friday Favorites...  Fans

Our temperature reached 90 today- it's time to start talking FANS!

Ceiling fans are mostly ugly, occasionally bearable, and on a very rare occasion beautiful.  I found a few beautiful fans and thought I'd pass them along.  They are from Aria Ventilatori.  They sport hand-carved blades with flared tips and fabulous cast iron bodies.

I was in a ceiling fan store about a year ago- and there was an amazingly beautiful fan- but when I asked, I found it was not for sale.  It was an antque that the owner had picked up.  Sad that nothing in the shop could hold a candle to it.  These fans were inspired by a fan found in an antique shop in Florence.

Check out the diverse interiors you can see this fan in.  A very transitional style.  The line offers two distinct designs, Aliseo and Maestralino.

What do you think?  Is anyone out there as big a fan of the fans as I am?

Cool New Source

Today I wanted to introduce you to Jayson Home and Garden. They are located in Chicago's Lincoln Park- but are set up to sell to you from their web site- for those of you in rural America.

I have to say that I loved ALL of their sofa styles. How often can you say that? And they have a "flea market" section also- with vintage and antiques- like the antique garden table above. I admit- that I sometimes daydream about having my own store- and it always has some antiques mixed in...

You can find great accessories too...

And check out this beautiful antiqued rug. I adore the aged look in rugs... What do you think?

Earth Day

I think it is important for each of us to do our part to protect and preserve the earth for the future generations that will inherit it.

I am always impressed when a manufacturer takes special effort to be "earth friendly."

One of my favorites? Mathews and Company. Their copper tables are made of a blended mix of soda bottles. Their wood furniture is made of vintage wood, over twenty years old. Their pottery can be returned to the earth, as it is made of three different types of soil.

What else? They are fantastic from a design standpoint- unique, bold, and easy to customize.
