Subtract 30 Years off Your Life

Hey Christine,

We have a condo at the lake in Tennessee and are getting ready to have them painted. I would be interested in knowing what colors you would have them painted. Some of the condos have balcony's which doesn't show in either photo. Thanks for any advice you could give me.

Sincerely,
Rhenda

Hi Rhenda,

It is amazing what a coat of paint can do.  I really want you to send me after photos- because one quick blog post can easily take off 30 years from the life of these condos.

I would simply steal a color pallet from the HGTV dream home- they've already figured out a great combination, that is very "today"  (gray is the hottest color).  It is OK to be trendy in paint colors- paint needs to be re-done before it is out of style in most cases.  (it is not like your kitchen cabinets)  The gray is nice and neutral and would look great in your wooded setting.  Next I would talk them into an update in their landscaping.  Can you imagine if the condos were landscaped as nicely as the dream home?

Colors Used

SW 6242 - Bracing Blue

SW 6242

Bracing Blue-(use on your doors)

SW 7044 - Amazing Gray

SW 7044

Amazing Gray- (use for your field color)

SW 7045 - Intellectual Gray

SW 7045

Intellectual Gray- (use for your trim)

I would need some larger photos for more complete advice- but it might also work very nicely to have changes in your field color from one condo to the next...  That is always a possibility when you have elevation changes.  Your roof is hard fro me to see- but that is the only factor that would keep you from lifting the pallet from HGTV.  I would still use sample quarts.  You might find that you need a warmer set of grays to go with your roof color.
